Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night
The cute christmas jammies I made, needless to say I am grounded from sewing! But it did make my kids happy, and if Jer gains about 150 lbs this year his pants will still fit.
Jeremy insisted that we sleep in the living room next to the tree. At leaset we have a super comfy couch!

Polar Express Day
Today Payton's Kindergarten class had a Polar Express Party, and they got to wear their pajama's to school. Silly girl she was so excited. The kids also got to go to the Library and talk to Santa. He even sang some fun songs with the kids.
Nothing better in the world than wearing Princess pajamas to school

I love this time of year (Things I overheard this week!)
Here are a few things that I have overheard this week!
"Oh Yeah! Well my Daddy works next door to the North Pole, and he is going to tell Santa!"
"So!, I don't care if Santa brings me coal I will just give it to Grandma to burn in her stove!"
"I hope that after all the toys are delivered that Daddy doesn't get layed off until next year."

SANTA!
Our ward Christmas Party was this week, and because I help in the Primary my thoughts were elsewhere, but not my kids they knew exactly what this party was about. SANTA!
Payton has never actually sat on Santa's lap before, so here is her Santa debut!
I typed up a really cute post last night and went to edit the photos, and today it is missing so this is all you get!

Parker is an old pro though and had his list all ready!

Silly Pictures of Payton
I was looking through my camera and came across these silly pictures of Payton. She must have taken them while I was helping at Parker's afterschool club.
What a silly kid!

A HUGE THANKS TO OUR FRIENDS
Our great friends Troy & Katie are the best. I called them late one afternoon, and begged a huge favor of them. Please can you watch our kids while we go to the temple, oh and by the way can we spend two nights at your house so we can get Jer to the airport??? They are the best and on short notice Katie worked her magic (yeah Adia told me about your powers!) and helped us out so much. They even pulled through with a babysitter for the evening so the adults could go out, and what did we do??? Worry about the kids and the babysitter. We had so much fun and are so greatful to be blessed with such good friends. Check out their family blog where Katie posted some fun pictures of our kids.

HaPpY BiRtHdAy DAD!
Today my Dad turned 60, and of course I forgot my camera, but Tori took some pictures so hopefully I will get them from her.
This is my Dad at the Bluff Fort when we down for the dedication of the statue of John Taylor. I love that he calls me and offers our family a ride. I love all the stories he tells us, and he always answers Parker's many questions.
I added this picture of my Dad, but it just makes me cry. This was our 2009 Holyoak family reunion. I spend the entire year anticipating our family reunion, but this year I was totally dragging my feet. My sweet cousin Tauna passed away the week before the reunion, and my Uncle Lyman & Aunt Sandy returned home from their mission in Cape Verde. It was the hardest time, and I am so glad that we all got together as family. I loved how my Uncles were all there for each other. What I didn't love was my Dad! The man who never cries and never shows compassion was really just a big cry baby and he made all of us cry. He just kept saying "This just isn't right!" and no it isn't right, but it is life. So I don't know which I like better the man who doesn't show emotion, or the man who bawls and makes everyone around him bawl. I can't decide, but I do want him to know that I love him.
I LOVE YOU DAD! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Someone's Great idea, but not mine!
It's that time of year when you drag your kids out into the frozen night and stand in the street. Anywhere else in the world this would be largely frowned upon. We went out in the 22 degree weather and stood for an hour, and for what 3 tootsie rolls and a salt water taffy. Well actually the kids got more candy than that! And they loved the first three floats after that they were cold, and asking to go home. But nope this mean Momma made them stay to the very end. Parker's favorite was the miniature horses with lights on them. and Payton's favorite were the dance groups with the lit pom poms. My favorite was the City of Moab's float with a cool igloo and snowmen. My second favorite was getting back home to my warm house and some homemade soup. Yummy!
Getting hot chocolate we found cousin Michael!
Another picture with a cute little girl from our ward.
My favorite float, sorry I am such a bad photographer, but you get the idea of all the work that went into this float.

Burnt Out!
This happy little sign my Mom gave me, I found it in the oven after pre-heating it.
My sunglasses, fell out of my pocket and I shut them in the truck door.
My cell phone fell out of my pocket and Lisa stepped on it. Lisa is a horse! I was still able to do a data transfer.
I put the lights on the tree and and plugged them in and found out that the whole middle strand was burned out.
I saw a dead bee on my kitchen floor and I grabbed it with my bare hands, and got stung right in the finger. That's right stung by a dead bee!! Only Me!!!
All but the sign and the sunglass have been fixed, and I hope to stop wrecking everything. Okay now on to the holiday cheer!!!!

Oh the joy of a boy
What do you load your bullet belt with?
One empty shell casing.
Plastic Hunters' arm, random black thing, palm tree, two mini toy rifles (blue), stick, half of a cloth pin, more sticks that double as wolverine claws, and one shell casing.
AMAZING, I don't think I could have found so many small things to fit in there.

So Much Fun
Life is crazy here in Moab, and I am in completely over my head. Our family is so blessed to have so many friends and family who love us so much. We have so much fun while Jer is home, and our friends and family help us out with the kids so we can go out on dates! Thanks everyone!
Getting Hay!
Hank the Cow Dog!
Getting ready to ride on sandflats.
Pictures Payton took while driving down the river road.
Payton thinking she is HOT STUFF in Uncle Paul's shades!
Parker and his petrified snake that Ben found for him. Not quite sure where it went too and I know that I am going to stumble across it one of these days when I have forgotten about it!

We have had the nicest November weather and it has been just beautiful. Our household chores aren't getting done becauce it is just too fun to be outside. We have gone riding on the sandflats and found some of my Uncle's cows. While riding I lost my cell phone, at first I wasn't too worried I just thought I would go out the next day and find it. The next day we went out and didn't find it and I started to get really worried, not about the phone, but because of all the contacts in my phone! When our riding time ran out I was feeling really bummed that I hadn't found my phone. Jer had to take the missionaries down to Paradox and I had after school club, and all I could think of was all the calls that I was suppose to be making! When Jer got home that night he held out my phone and I said "Oh my gosh did I leave it in the truck?" Thinking maybe I had just left it in the other truck. No he said a Jeeper had found it out on Fins and Things and called the first number with a name next to it. Wow what a great person! Jer told the guy thanks, but I feel bad not giving the person a personal THANK YOU! So do me a favor and if you can do something nice pay it forward!

Halloween
We did some fun things for Halloween, and I am oh so glad that it is over.
Fun times at the fall festival, and lots of candy from the trunk or treat. Loved the great turn out, I saw so many friends I haven't seen for so long. I also loved handing out candy and seeing all the great costumes, even though we ran out of candy way to fast!

BP Liberty Project Rig Walking System (This is so cool!)
This is what Jer worked on this spring, it was then loaded on a barg headed to the North Slope of Alaska, and he headed to training. Not his favorite thing, but I am so proud of him, he did all of his homework, and passed all of his classes. No more changes until after the new year!
P.S. Jer is in the orange hard hat starting at 41 seconds. Also the walking system moves 4 feet per stroke and moves 23 tons.

The Internet Fairy came today
Today the internet fairy came and hooked up our internet, it is so exciting I no longer have to pop in on my parents (who I love and deeply thank for letting me use their internet!) or going to the public libary to use there internet only to find out that Jer is not on due to storms on the North Slope! So we are all very excited to have internet again and the first thing Parker did was go to marvel kids and make a comic, I got on and saw all the nice comments on facebook for my birthday, and Jer e-mailed all his work buddies (Payton spent some much needed time in her room cleaning!) So we are back on the internet, getting everything I have been procrasting done, and if you need anything let us know!

We have a diagnosis
After seeing two different doctors Parker has been diagnosed with Asperger’s Disorder Syndrome, a social anxiety disorder, on the autism spectrum. If you would like to find out more about it click the link. Due to the upcoming family reunion I wanted to share this information before we all got together again. Hopefully this information will help us interact with Parker, because knowledge is power! Right!; and maybe what our family is going through will help others in similar situations. Jeremy and I love Parker very much and we want others to love him too, and sometimes to love someone you have to understand them. I have some special people in our lives that are well educated in Special Education, and have been my life lines. I want to give them special thanks for all they do to support us; my Aunt Kathie, my cousin Mariah, and our good friends Aunt Katie and Uncle Troy.
Parker was having a hard time focusing in the classroom, to the point that he was distracting other kids. Parker’s classroom teacher was great, and she supported us, but could not keep him in his seat, and couldn’t keep him from being a distraction. I had a really bad experience with the Special Ed teacher, pretty much Parker hadn’t been serviced for his needs the whole year, because I was told that we couldn’t do a new IEP (Individual Education Plan) until April, because that is when the last one had been done and you have to wait a whole year. (To any of you who may need this information, you can ask for a new IEP any time, by law.) So Parker wasn’t be serviced the whole year, but we didn’t know because he was bringing home speech papers once a week and was in a special reading program. During this time Parker’s classroom teacher was expressing concern about his lack of focus. I would go and sit in the classroom and Parker would act perfect, but I couldn’t be there everyday. So I asked the classroom teacher what the special ed teacher was doing for support, and was told nothing. So I went to the special ed teacher to find out how to help Parker, she said she didn’t even have Parker’s special ed paperwork from Grand Junction (which is a lie because she had told me that I couldn’t have a new IEP until April, and how would she have know that if she hadn’t had his papers at one time.) I went straight home and called Grand Junction to get the records faxed over again. A big thanks to my cousin Mariah who told me to just take the IEP that I already had into the school. Thanks Mariah, after all of this you can do all the thinking for me! So I took Parker’s IEP in, but still nothing. On the last day of school I went in to take something to Parker’s teacher, the special ed teacher grabbed me and told me that she had just gotten the fax from GJ, which I looked at the date and it said 4/28, and the date was 5/22. REALLY?!?! The first thing out of her mouth is “Have You thought about medicating Parker?” Just for your information it is against the law for educators to suggest medication in Utah, and just what would we be medicating him for? What was wrong with him?
So I was mad, and I marched down to Parker’s classroom teacher, and as calmly as I could I asked her if we needed to medicate Parker, she told me NO!, but I would have him observed. Thank – you, to this special person who championed Parker all year, and at just the right moment made the perfect suggestion to me. Why am I including this crazy story of me getting mad?, because it was the breaking point – the ah ha moment! After this interaction I went to my medical doctor and asked for help. My Doctor put his office staff on this and by the end of the day I had a contact, and they were faxing me forms to fill out. I filled out the forms in record time and faxed them back in and called to get my appointments. I told them my crazy story of how we had lost a whole year and I needed help and I would jump through any hoop they asked me to, and I meant it. They finally called me back with an appointment date; it was the 27th of July and the day that Jer and I were flying home from Alaska. The date was almost a month away, but it was a cancellation, and the next appointment was in late August. So I begged my family that someone would bring the kids to SLC from Moab so we could get Parker into the Doctor before school started, and my wonderful Father did. Jer and I were really tired after taking a red eye from Anchorage to SLC, and went to the movie UP just so we could sleep while we waited for Parker, but were still out of our minds tired. Dad brought the kids to the Mall in Provo and we threw them in the truck and headed to SLC. When we were almost to the Doctors office Parker said, do you think I will get a new cast? Jer and I looked at each other in all of our craziness we had failed to tell him we were going to a doctor to help him in school. So we explained this to Parker, and he went into classic Parker shut down mode. We met with the Doctor who asked us tons of questions, and did tons of tests; for the most part Parker was acting like the Doctor wasn’t even in the room. The Doctor told us what that he thought that Parker had Asperger’s syndrome, and we scheduled more Doctor Appointments with other Doctors. We also purchased a few books and have been doing some very heavy reading.
So why am I sharing this? Because we love Parker, and we want him to learn how to behave correctly and not use Asperger’s as an excuse. We have told him that because he knows he has it he has to work even harder to act right. So here we go down the road of Asperger’s syndrome, learning to make eye contact, learning personal boundaries, how to take no for an answer, focusing in school and for Parker not talking just about X-men, transformers, and horses! Please join us, it is going to be a bumpy road, with a lot of pit stops, but we love our kids and want them to be well rounded, healthy people. I would love to answer any questions, or read any comments.
Thanks & Love,
Jeremy & Stacy

MY KIDS ARE SUPER HEROES!
Anyone who knows Parker knows that he is extremely passionate! His new passion???? Super Heroes, mainly Wolverine. We have to dress like Wolverine, act like Wolverine and do our hair like Wolverine (kind of funny the kid has perfect hair to do it like Wolverine!)
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, kind of nice to look at, mainly because he doesn't live at my house and he isn't always jumping out in front of me making sound effects like snikt!
This Payton being Kittie, I have no idea who that is!
The Cons of Parker being Wolverine, is he has used all the mousse, hair spray, and gel in the house, and he is really warping his sister, she now thinks she has super powers, and she calls people mutants at the grocery store.
